Biography
Martá P. Brown is an Associate at Butler Pappas. Martá received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics as well as Political Science from North Carolina State University in 2006 and his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2009. While in law school, Martá served as an Articles and Notes Editor for the North Carolina Banking Institute Journal and as a Research Assistant for Professor Ruth Ann McKinney.
Martá focuses his litigation practice on insurance coverage and liability. Prior to joining the firm, Martá worked at an insurance litigation firm where he defended insurers and business entities in a wide range of first and third party coverage issues, bad faith, and complex liability matters, including wrongful death, premises liability, construction defect, and motor vehicle negligence; Martá continues this practice at Butler Pappas. Martá also previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office, where he represented the State of North Carolina in a variety of criminal matters.
Martá is admitted in North Carolina. Additionally, he has been admitted to the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. Martá is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Mecklenburg County Bar Association. He is also active in the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys.
