Biography
Marva De Armas is the Attorney and founder of this firm, created to provide legal guidance and representation to Hispanics in all areas of the law. Marva is an attorney who cares- about her clients and her community. Her professional and personal philosophy includes giving back in ways that make a meaningful difference to the local and national communities to which she dedicates her practice. Being a Spanish speaking attorney means Marva knows the ins and outs of the law and issues Latinos face. That is why Marva strives to advocate ruthlessly for her clients, whether it be in a custody battle or cancellation of deportation in immigration court. Marva has handled many cases before the immigration courts in Detroit, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, and more. She has represented clients from all parts of the world, including, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Venezuela, Cuba, and the list goes on.
My firm has first hand experience handling clients in removal proceedings. I have also evolved my practice to all immigration matters, including but not limited to, special immigrant juveniles, u-visa applicants, VAWA recipients, affirmative asylums, and other motions before the immigration courts. I defend clients at the Detroit Immigration Court and other immigration courts nationwide, such as Chicago, Miami, New York and California. I also represent clients at United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Office for marriage interviews, citizenship interviews, and other applications before USCIS. In addition, my office and I work with clients who need representation and support with Immigration and Customs (ICE) officials and attend interviews with clients with deportation officers when needed.
In addition to my immigration work, I represent clients in Wayne County, Washtenaw County, Oakland County, and other Metro-Detroit cities in criminal matters, such as drinking and driving offenses and licensing violations as well as family law matters such as divorce, custody, and guardianship cases before the family and probate court.
I am the Secretary of the Hispanic Bar Association of Michigan and an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Oakland County Bar Association, and the Washtenaw County Bar Association. I am on the Board of Directors for the State Bar of Michigan's Immigration Law Section. In 2012, I was recognized by President Obama’s Council on Service and Civic Participation and was awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for my contribution of over 300 hours of community service. I often work with underpresented and underserved communities; single women, children, and victims of abuse and have represented these individuals low-bono and often times pro-bono in efforts to ensure they get proper representation.
