 Areas of Practice  

Family Law -  Divorce, custody, change of child custody, child support establishment and modification, spousal maintenance or alimony, adoption, visitation, property division, pension division and preparation of qualified domestic relations orders, orders for protection/ restraining orders, name change, and all other domestic relation issues. 90 % of practice is dedicated to the practice of family law.

Wills / Deeds-  Preparation of wills, powers of attorney, living will or health care declarations. Also drafting of real estate deeds, life estate deeds, contract for deeds.  10 % of practice dedicated to this area.

Educational & Professional Summary:

1988  - Bachelor of Arts Degree Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND.  Major in Psychology with Honora and minor in English.

1991 -  Juris Doctorate Degree  received  from William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota. 

1992  - Admitted to the bar

1993  - Judicial Law Clerk , Sixth Judicial District-  was hired and served the State of Minnesota as a Judicial Law Clerk for Honorable David E. Ackerson and Honorable Jeffrey Rantala, Judges of the District Court, Hibbing, MN.

1993 - 1997 -  Johnson & Deal, Attorneys at Law - opened our own business private practice after the end of judicial clerkship.  I acquired and renovated office building near the courthouse in Virginia, Minnesota when I started private practice with partner Todd E. Deal, Attorney at Law, Certified Public Accountant.  Deal and I went to law school together and graduated law school at same time.   Emphasis of my practice was family law and partner Deal's emphasis was in criminal law.

1997 - 2012(present)-  M Johnson Law Firm, P.A. -  continued in private practice as sole shareholder of professional corporation where I remain as a practicing attorney emphasis 90% family law. Percentage of time in litigation is 70 - 90%.
