Mary Katherine Shoenfelt, who goes by "Katie", is a Baton Rouge native. She went to St. James Episcopal for elementary school, Our Lady of Mercy for middle school, and graduated high school from St. Joseph's Academy in 2002. She grew up playing sports, including volleyball, soccer, tennis, and basketball.  She had several scholarships in soccer upon high school graduation but took an academic scholarship to Ole Miss in forensic chemistry.  Missing home, she transferred to LSU in 2003.  In 2006 she graduated from LSU with a B.S. in biological sciences and a minor in communication studies.  That fall she began law school at LSU, and she graduated in 2009. She took and passed the Louisiana Bar Exam in July of that year. In the fall, she began working with her father Oscar Shoenfelt, III, who has been a local trial attorney in Baton Rouge for over 40 years and whose practice is state-wide. She sat as the second chair on two jury trials in her first year of practice, has handled countless bench trials, and has been successful in litigating cases in the First and Fifth Circuit Appellate Courts.  She has also practiced at the Rowe Law Firm; Carleton, Hebert & Shoenfelt, LLC; Carleton, Shoenfelt & Chapman, LLC; Sternberg, Naccari & White, LLC; and she is now at Shoenfelt Law Firm, LLC.

She is experienced in family law, personal injury, medical malpractice. Her family law practice mainly focuses on the following areas: divorces, child custody, child support, spousal support (alimony), judicial separations, partitioning of community property, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, restraining orders, paternity issues, and other related issues. She also enjoys handling personal injury cases.
