Biography
Mr. Racunas concentrates his practice in the areas of municipal law, condominium and homeowners’ association law, and civil litigation. In the area of municipal law, his practice involves the representation of municipal entities as solicitor, labor counsel, and special counsel. Mr. Racunas also represents numerous condominium and homeowners’ associations and provides guidance on their rights and responsibilities under the Uniform Condominium Act and the Uniform Planned Community Act. In the private sector, Mr. Racunas has extensive arbitration and trial experience, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in all types of cases from personal injury claims to complex commercial litigation matters. Mr. Racunas recently obtained a verdict in excess of $28 million dollars in a wrongful death case filed on behalf of several clients who were injured and killed by a drunk driver. The verdict is one of the largest ever awarded in Allegheny County. He has also successfully argued many appeals before the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Superior Court, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Mr. Racunas received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh in 1998. He received his J.D. in 2002 from Duquesne University, where he received the Cali Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, and has previously served a member of the Board of Directors for the Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Racunas is admitted to practice in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
