Matt graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and was inducted into the Rho Phi Lambda Honors Fraternity. Matt received his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law.

During law school, Matt was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity, serving two years as the co-chair of the service committee. During his third year, he received the service award from Phi Alpha Delta for his work with the Durham Boys and Girls Club and Ronald McDonald House.

Matt worked as a summer associate at Teague Campbell and joined the firm as a full time associate in 2012. He concentrates his practice between workers' compensation and general civil defense litigation. Matt is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Wake County Bar Association, and the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys.
