Matthew J. Blancato is a founding partner of Martin & Blancato, APC. Mr. Blancato’s practice areas consist of civil litigation, including worker’s compensation and personal injury on behalf of injured individuals.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Blancato had extensive legal experience, including clerking for a judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County (IL). Additionally, Mr. Blancato worked as a Certified Law Clerk with the Chicago Housing Authority, which is the Chicago’s public housing agency, where he focused mainly on motion practice in personal injury and contract cases. Before attending law school, Mr. Blancato worked as a Legal Secretary and File Clerk at an insurance defense firm in San Diego, where he assisted in all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings, composing discovery, and helping prepare for trials.

For the past 13 years, Mr. Blancato has been an associate attorney at a boutique law firm in San Diego handing workers' compensation and personal injury cases on behalf of injured individuals.

Mr. Blancato has settled several cases for over $1 million and has obtained 100% permanent total disability awards at Trial. Mr. Blancato specializes in serious and catastrophic injuries, including spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, amputations, and death, and injuries that require home health care services and alternative housing. 

Mr. Blancato is a member of the California Applicants' Attorneys Association (CAAA) and the San Diego and Riverside County Bar Associations. He is a panel member for workers' compensation cases at both the San Diego and Riverside County Bar Associations. He has spoken at statewide workers' compensation forums and has provided training seminars for many local labor unions.
