Matthew is an attorney with the Toledo, Ohio law firm of Shindler Neff, LLP. He was previously an attorney at the law firm of Arthur, O'Neil, Mertz, Michel & Brown LPA in Defiance, Ohio.

Matthew is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Toledo Bar Association (Domestic Relations Committee and Young Lawyers Committee), the Toledo Junior Bar Association, and the Emerging Leaders Council for LAWO/ABLE.

Matthew is a fellow of the Ohio State Bar Association Foundation. He was a member of the Ohio State Bar Association's inaugural emerging leaders class in 2009. In 2008, he completed the National Institute for Trial Advocacy's week-long Trail Skills program. Matthew is also a former member of the National College of DUI Defense and has completed the same Standardized Field Sobriety Tests training that police officers complete.
