Melanie Hammer, Criminal Defense Attorney

I am a Native New Yorker, and as such, I have seen injustice my whole life. I became dedicated to getting justice for those wrongfully accused and in need of a strong advocate.  This dedication to getting justice is why I became a lawyer.  I attended Brooklyn Law School full time during the day while working evenings and weekends at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.  This is the work ethic I still bring to my cases.

After I received my Law Degree, I was appointed to be an Assistant District Attorney in the Queens County District Attorney's Office. During my tenure as a prosecutor I honed my trial skills and handled thousands of criminal cases.  I worked in the felony trial bureau, misdemeanor trial bureau, intake bureau, and supervised arraignments.

My dedication to justice led me to establish my own criminal defense practice in 2008. I have handled hundreds of cases including DUI/DWI, Assaults, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Domestic Violence, Stalking, and Harassment.
