Biography
Michael McDermott is Partner at O’Connell and Aronowitz practicing in plaintiffs personal injury and criminal defense areas with special emphasis representing children who suffered brain injuries as result of lead poisoning.
Before joining O'Connell and Aronowitz, Mike was formerly with the Albany County District Attorney’s office where he was Chief Assistant District Attorney. He gained recognition for his criminal defense work in some of the Capital District’s most prominent criminal cases in addition to his role in litigation plaintiff's personal injury cases. He also previously served as Chief Assistant District Attorney in Rensselaer County and remains a court-appointed special prosecutor in homicide cases in both Albany and Rensselaer counties. Mike was appointed by Gov. Eliot Spitzer to the New York State Commission on Sentencing Reform and also served as a member of the City of Albany Gun Violence Task Force.
Mike is an adjunct professor at Siena College in Loudonville NY and Southern Vermont College and has lectured on varied legal issues for bar associations and several educational institutions. He is a graduate of Siena College and Albany Law School.
