Terry began his legal career in Buffalo, New York in 1976. Upon moving to Albuquerque, Terry worked as an assistant district attorney, which made him a constant presence in the courtroom. In 1979, Terry reentered private practice focused on personal injury and real estate law. He shifted to full-time personal injury and medical malpractice litigation in 1988.

In addition to practicing law, Terry is a dedicated volunteer in the Albuquerque community. Terry has been the Charter President of the Uptown Optimist Club and of his neighborhood association. He has also served on the board of directors of the State Bar Senior Lawyers Division, New Day Youth & Family Services, the Jewish Federation of New Mexico, the New Mexico Trial Lawyers and the Jewish Community Center. In his free time, Terry enjoys hiking, working out and skiing.
