For the past 12 years, Nelissa has represented juvenile and adult clients in all stages of the criminal process. She has served as lead counsel in over seventy district and county trials as well as hundreds of motions hearings. Nelissa represents clients on a full range charges, including first-degree murder, sex assault, securities fraud, theft, assault, and domestic violence. 

In 2015, Nelissa's peers nominated her for Attorney of the Year out of 440 public defenders based on her advocacy, dedication, and service. During her eight-year tenure as a senior public defender, she handled numerous complex cases and as a result, received several special assignments in Arapahoe and Jefferson counties.  

In 2018, Nelissa started her own firm to focus exclusively on criminal defense. She is known in the legal community as a compassionate advocate, who works tirelessly to get the best outcome for her clients.
