Biography
Mr. Panagopoulos was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1999 and began his legal career at Fuller & Henry, Ltd. in Toledo, Ohio where he gained valuable client contact and litigation experience.
After leaving Fuller & Henry in 2001, Mr. Panagopoulos took a brief sabbatical as an attorney to enhance his
writing and analytical skills by pursuing a Master’s of Arts in English Literature, with a focus on writing, from
Cleveland State University. While still working towards his Master’s of Arts in English Literature, Mr.
Panagopoulos returned to his legal career, joining Yormick & Associates Co., L.P.A. in 2005. During his almost five years with Yormick & Associates, through close work with Managing Attorney Jon P. Yormick, Mr. Panagopoulos further developed his client-centered approach to practicing law and continued to hone his legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
In 2010, Mr. Panagopoulos re-entered solo practice, forming Nicholas A. Panagopoulos II, LLC to
continue his existing practice as well as to begin to develop new practice areas, including acting as a private
mediator for individuals or companies involved in a dispute.
Mr. Panagopoulos has handled a wide variety of both international and domestic business litigation. He has
successfully resolved several litigation matters, including a products liability case against a major automobile
manufacturer, as well as a variety of insurance subrogation cases involving both commercial and residential property losses and medical payment claims. He has written numerous motions and briefs, including those leading to the dismissal of a civil RICO and fraud case and also a federal employment discrimination case.
Mr. Panagopoulos was extensively involved in multiple federal court appeals for a German manufacturer, including the research and preparation of multiple appellate briefs and a petition for writ of certiorari to the United States Supreme Court. He later helped to defend the same client against a federal declaratory judgement action arising out of the same underlying transaction. Mr. Panagopoulos worked extensively on a breach of contract case in federal court involving a Bolivia-based industrial company, and was instrumental in defending a complex litigation matter involving four separate actions in both state and federal courts in Ohio and Massachusetts stemming from the sale of a multi-million dollar residence and art collection.
Early in 2007, Mr. Panagopoulos argued a workers’ compensation appeal before the 8th District Court of Appeals, successfully defending summary judgment obtained, in part, due to the insufficiency of the plaintiff’s doctor’s expert report under the Daubert expert witness standard.
In the Spring of 2010, Mr. Panagopoulos argued an issue of first impression before the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals concerning whether a defendant in cognovit judgment proceedings can be deemed to have waived its Fed. R. Civ. P. 8(c) statute of limitations defense.
Most recently, in the Spring of 2013, Mr. Panagopoulos acted as co-counsel for a major movie studio in litigation stemming from filming in Cleveland, Ohio, and negotiated a resolution that was beneficial to all parties and did not interrtupt filming.
Mr. Panagopoulos has earned the recognition of his peers, resulting in being named an Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2009.
A 1995 cum laude graduate of Arizona State University, Mr. Panagopoulos majored in Psychology and was
inducted as a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, in 1995. In addition to his law
practice, Mr. Panagopoulos has completed all but his thesis for a Master’s of Arts in English Literature, with a focus on writing, from Cleveland State University.
Mr. Panagopoulos attended the Case Western Reserve University College of Law and earned his Juris Doctor
degree in 1999. While in school, Mr. Panagopoulos was a law clerk for Research, Analysis, and Writing Professor
Jonathan Gordon.
Mr. Panagopoulos is licensed to practice before all state and federal trial-level and appellate courts in Ohio. He
is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Akron Bar Association.
