The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once exclaimed that, “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?” Nick tries to live his personal and professional life according to that maxim. Whether it was fighting for the rights of patients or providing technology resources to historically underrepresented communities, Nick believes that doing and fighting for the right thing is important. Nick’s first case occurred back in law school, when he appealed a government decision denying a homeless schizophrenic individual Social Security Disability benefits. Through his appeal, Nick was able to get them not only cash benefits and medical care, but also several years of back pay that was owed to him under the law. Instead of believing that might makes right, Nick believes that right makes might, even if that sometimes means standing alone. Andrew Jackson once opined that “One person with courage makes a majority.”

Nick’s professional career has taken him across the country, serving in a variety of healthcare leadership positions, faculty roles in higher education, as well as active-duty service in the United States Air Force and the Department of Veterans Affairs. He is a member of the California bar, and holds graduate degrees in law (JD) and nursing (DNP).
