Biography
Phil is a labor and employment attorney who represents employers in federal and state courts and administrative agencies. His litigation practice involves defending clients in a wide variety of disputes involving the employment relationship including claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation or other violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 1981, the Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”), the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (“ADEA”), the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”), the False Claims Act, and other federal and state laws. His litigation practice also involves representing employers in trade secrets protection act claims and enforcing non-compete and other restrictive covenant claims.
In addition to his litigation practice, Phil advises and counsels employers on ADA reasonable accommodation requests and FMLA leave requests, drafts and reviews employment, severance, non-compete and restrictive covenant agreements, conducts HR audits, provides management training on legal compliance, and proactively advises employers on litigation avoidance strategies.
Before joining the firm, Phil served as law clerk to the Honorable Graham C. Mullen, Senior U.S. District Court Judge for the Western District of North Carolina.
