Biography
Dr. Qian Yang received his J.D. (magna cum laude) from The University of District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law. He also possesses a Ph.D. degree in Polymer Chemistry from Zhejiang University, and a B.S. degree in Polymer Science and Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University (both are top universities in Asia), with extensive research experience in Germany and in the United States, He received the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for his postdoctoral research in Germany.
While enrolled in Law School, Dr. Yang received merit-based scholarship awards for four consecutive years. He was also named a Dean’s Fellow for his excellent performance and outstanding leadership. During his studies, Dr. Yang was lauded for his thesis regarding civil rights movements and the challenges faced by the Chinese-American immigrant community. He also participated in legislative-related projects and advocated for the reform of laws at both the State and Federal levels. Dr. Yang is currently licensed in the District of Columbia.
Dr. Yang has published more than 30 research papers in top research journals including Chemistry of Materials, Macromolecules, Langmuir, and ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces. He also contributed to five book chapters published by leading scientific publishers such as Wiley and Springer. His Ph.D. dissertation won the “Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award” from Zhejiang Province, China.
Dr. Yang has participated in many cutting-edge research projects supported by major funding agencies, including The National Basic Research Program (973 Program, China), The National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program, China), the National Science Foundation (United States), Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Science Foundation), and has collaborated with leading companies such as Merck KGaA.
He played a key role in the project “Surface Engineering of Microporous Polypropylene Membranes”, which won the Prize for Outstanding Achievements of Scientific Research in Chinese Universities (second prize, Ministry of Education of China). His papers have been widely cited - more than 2,000 times. Dr. Yang has a solid background in engineering and extensive experience in biomaterials development and application. His research spans biomaterials, polymers, membrane technology, and biomedical engineering. His vast expertise and experience in science enable him to accurately understand applicants’ research and highlight the bright spots.
Dr. Yang joined New Weiming Law Group in 2014. His practice focuses on immigration and he has helped thousands of new immigrants in America with all kinds of complicated legal matters. Dr. Yang is especially experienced in preparing and filing employment-based immigration petition (EB-1, NIW, PERM), and application for different type of work visas (H-1B, O-1, L-1). With a strong background in science and academia and with his expertise and extraordinary ability, Dr. Yang successfully worked with numerous researchers, scholars, professionals, professors, doctors, engineers, and other applicants from all over the world to receive approvals in U.S. Greencard applications, immigration petitions, and visa applications.
