Biography
Rebecca Maxey was born and raised in Alaska, and holds an LLB from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and an LLM from Boston University School of Law where she completed course and clinical work at Harvard Law School. Since returning to Alaska, she has worked in the field of immigration and asylum law beginning in 1997 as a law clerk, before becoming an attorney and founding her own firm in September 2001. Through her law practice, Ms. Maxey has mentored numerous students from local high schools, the University of Alaska, and several law schools as they have learned invaluable skills as budding professionals and future attorneys. She is a contributor to Law of Asylum in the United States, the major asylum law treatise used by Immigration Judges, Asylum Officers, and attorneys as a comprehensive resource for up to date guidance on asylum law and practice. In her spare time, she travels widely, enjoys gourmet cooking and gardening, sings with the Anchorage Concert Chorus and keeps a yoga mat in her office.
