The firm was founded in 1952 by Attorney Richard Bentley Sr. A native of Taunton, he graduated from Taunton High School and Suffolk Law School. He established the practice with the goal of providing the highest quality legal services and a commitment to helping the community. Attorney Richard Bentley Sr. retired in 2003.

In 1983, Attorney Richard Bentley Jr. joined the firm. A native of Taunton, he is a graduate of Coyle and Cassidy High School, Providence College and New England Law Boston. Attorney Richard Bentley Jr. has practiced law for over thirty five years as an active member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, representing clients from cities and towns across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Attorney Richard Bentley Jr. is known as a honest, effective, dedicated attorney who is well respected in the community. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Mechanics Cooperative Bank.
