Since law is a profession rather than merely a business, the lawyer's duty to the client is paramount but obligation extends to the Court system, to the public at large and to a system of governance that promotes justice and fair treatment for all.

 If I couldn't litigate, I don't know what I would (or could) do.  A semi-serious goal is to try a jury trial in every Tennessee county before I die or retire.  I've got about 80 or so of the 95 counties-- the courthouse pictures that appear at random throughout our firm's web site are part of my jurisprudential safari.  

Increasingly, I serve as a civil mediator and enjoy using different skill sets and gray hair to assist parties reach monetary and emotional settlement where hopes of resolution were slight.
