My fees are (somewhat) negotiable, and with complicated and difficult criminal cases I often visit with the defendant first for a more nominal fee in order to assess the case.

Perhaps you are used to attorneys saying you need to hire them but I don't believe that is true in about 

1/3 of the calls I get, because often the problems can be solved with a consultation.

My rates are either fixed fee or hourly - IF hourly the funds are placed in an escrow account and 

drawn down as the funds are used with the remainder returned at the end of the case. 

My hourly rate is a bit competitive and, for most cases, I do not charge for drive time; 

all other hourly lawyers do. 

I do my level best to make things move along quietly and peacefuly, as the outcome is often better.
