Biography
Sam Dotters-Katz practices primarily in the area of family law, with an emphasis on divorce litigation involving complex business and real property issues.
Sam received a B.A. in political science from the University of Oregon in 2009 and a second B.A. in History in 2011. During his summers, while an undergraduate at University of Oregon, Sam worked as a wildland firefighter. He was elected University of Oregon’s Student Body President in 2008 and again in 2013. Between undergrad and law school, Sam worked in the legislative office of State Representative Brent Barton.
Sam received his J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2014. During law school, Sam served as an intern for Oregon’s Senior United States Senator, Ron Wyden, in Washington D.C. He was elected Vice-President of the Student Bar Association in 2012. Sam also was a judicial extern for the Honorable Judge Debre Weintraub, in the Los Angeles Superior Court. Additionally, while in law school Sam founded a political action committee dedicated to increasing funding for higher education and restructuring the governance of Oregon’s higher education system. For these efforts, in 2013 Oregon’s Governor, John Kitzhaber appointed Sam as the first student ever to serve on the University of Oregon’s Board of Trustees.
Sam Dotters-Katz is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of Idaho, the United States District Court of Idaho, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
