Biography
Sharon Lee has practiced general and family law since 1995, is a mediator, a collaborative law practitioner, and a certified divorce financial analyst. While directing a regional office for Legal Aid Services of Oregon for fifteen years, she represented hundreds of clients in family law cases, and supervised thousands of cases. In addition to representing clients in court during trials and appeals, she has taught self-help divorce, custody, and trial skills classes.
Sharon Lee is a graduate of Davidson College with a BA in English, cum laude, and Georgetown University Law Center where she received a JD and was Section Editor of the Georgetown Journal on Fighting Poverty. She is a member of the Oregon State Bar and the Oregon Association of Collaborative Practitioners. She clerked for the National Center for Youth Law, the District of Columbia Public Defender Juvenile Services Program, and the Women's Legal Defense Fund. Sharon Lee completed a UC Berkeley fellowship on human rights decisions in New Delhi, India. She began practicing law for a legal aid program on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, where she worked in tribal and state courts.
cum laudeGeorgetown Journal on Fighting PovertyShe published three articles in Clearinghouse Review Journal of Poverty Law and Policy, one of which was co-authored with the founder of the national Legal Services program, Dr. Edgar Cahn. Dr. Cahn and Sharon Lee presented together at the 2012 National Legal Aid and Public Defender Association annual conference about creating reciprocity-based relationships between clients and attorneys in legal aid programs. She also spoke at the 2011 Time banks USA Annual Conference about achieving social justice through partnerships with clients.
Clearinghouse Review Journal of Poverty Law and PolicySharon Lee has been involved in the Roseburg community since moving here in 1997. She co-founded the Umpqua Valley Time Exchange, is a past president of the Douglas County Bar Association, and has served on boards including UCAN, Neighborworks Umpqua, the League of Women Voters, Common Ground Mediation Program, and the Douglas County Law Library. She has participated in the United Way Agency Relations Committee, the Douglas County Family Law Advisory Committee the Douglas County Family Violence Prevention Council and was appointed to the Oregon State Bar Affirmative Action Committee.
