Thomas is a trial attorney focused on immigration law, criminal defense and personal injury. He represents clients in all matters related to immigration with special emphasis on family immigration, deportation defense and cases where a person has been charged with a crime. Thomas is recognized for high achievement in his practice. He was named a Rising Star through Super Lawyers and recognized by the National Trial Lawyers as one of the top 100 trial attorneys in Minnesota. Thomas is the past chair for the Immigration Law section of the Minnesota State Bar Association. He is a frequent speaker on immigration law-related education courses and regularly appears on Spanish language radio.

Thomas is fluent in Spanish. He lived abroad in Spain, Chile and Italy.
