Torsten Bassell is a litigation and trial attorney, who is dedicated to recovering just and fair compensation for his clients. Mr. Bassell's practice is primarily concentrated on litigating and trying cases involving personal injury, contract disputes, and/or insurance bad faith.
Mr. Bassell's personal injury practice covers a wide range of cases, including, but not limited to, car accidents, burn injuries, motorcycle injuries, slip/trip and falls, catastrophic injuries, medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, workplace accidents (workers' compensation and third party cases), and wrongful death.
As for Mr. Bassell's contract practice, Mr. Bassell deals primarily in contract disputes that must be litigated or tried, including, but not limited to, cases involving business torts, interference with contract, breach of contract, and interference with prospective economic advantage.
In regard to Mr. Bassell's insurance bad faith practice, Mr. Bassell's practice concentrates on cases involving first party and third party bad faith, breaches of the duty to defend a claim or settle a claim, and the wrongful denial of insurance benefits.
In litigating the foregoing types of cases on behalf of his clients, Mr. Bassell has achieved notable jury verdicts and settlements. In 2011, Mr. Bassell was recognized as a Trial Lawyer of the Year Nominee by the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles. Additionally, in 2011, the City of Lancaster awarded Mr. Bassell with a commendation for his excellence in trial advocacy for consumer rights.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Bassell routinely serves as head coach for various law school mock trial teams that compete on a national level. For example, in 2011, Mr. Bassell coached a group of law students from Southwestern Law School to prepare them for the 2011 CACJ National Trial Advocacy Competition. After working with the students for about two months, the team ended up competing and winning the entire competition and obtaining the prestigious Best Advocate award.
