Biography
Tricia Rose Tanoos has been practicing law since 2007 and joined the team at Cox, Zwerner, Gambill & Sullivan, LLP, in January 2018. Her legal experience includes extensive work with guardianships, estate settlement, estate planning, Medicaid planning, long-term care planning, special needs trusts, charitable trusts and family trusts. She has litigated complex breach of fiduciary duty claims, real estate contract and employment law disputes and was published in the case of Estate of Ecker v. Estate of Samson, 59 N.E.3d 282 (. 2016). As a part-time Deputy Prosecutor in Vigo County for over ten years, Tricia handled all types of cases from minor infractions and juvenile court cases to felony jury trials. Tricia has spoken to local and statewide organizations on the topics of elder law and best legal practices at the Elder Law Institute, for Senior Education Ministries and to the Legal Secretaries of Indiana.

Estate of Samson,Tricia has served on several philanthropic boards as the Secretary of the Terre Haute Bar Association for ten years, President of the Dobbs Glen Homeowners Association for three years and Board Member of the Estate Planning Council of Central Illiana, Inc. Also, she is a member of the Indiana Chapter of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys and a member of the Indiana State Bar Association.
In the Spring 2018, Tricia served on the Mock Trial Challenge Committee. The Terre Haute Bar Association joined with Ivy Tech, the Vigo County School Corporation, Cox Zwerner Gambill & Sullivan, LLP and the Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office to organize local Attorneys to go into 8th grade classrooms to teach the students what the rule of law is, where the law comes from and how to navigate our American justice system. The project will culminate in a Mock Trial on May 4th, 2018, at the Vigo County Courthouse where the students act as the judges, prosecutors, defense counsel & jury.
In December 2006, Tricia graduated from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and received her Bachelor of Arts from Butler University in December 2000 in the areas of English, Spanish and Secondary Education. While attending law school, she was employed by the Indiana Senate Democratic Caucus as the Intern Director and Caucus Assistant from 2001 – 2005.
Both Tricia and her husband, James Tanoos—a Clinical Associate Professor at Purdue Polytechnic—graduated high school in Terre Haute, Indiana. They have been married for 14 years and have three children—Michael (13); Lucia (9) & JJ (4).
