Valerio Romano is an attorney with VGR Law Firm located in Boston, Massachusetts.  He is an expert in the regulatory environment surrounding medical marijuana dispensaries in Massachusetts.  He is frequently quoted in the media about the dispensary licensing process, including local zoning, permitting, housing, leasing, and other issues facing applicants and program participants.  Currently, he represents several dispensary applicants in the Commonwealth.  He also represents medical marijuana caregivers and patients in both criminal and civil matters.  Valerio is recognized for his superior knowledge surrounding the complex relationship between federal and state laws as well as the risks associated with each. 

Valerio started his career in California, focusing primarily on criminal defense.  He worked with J. Tony Serra, a famous San Francisco attorney and defender of basic human rights. During law school, Valerio clerked at the San Francisco Federal Public Defender's office, helping supervising attorneys defend federal criminal defendants.  

Valerio recently taught a Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education course, speaking on the challenges and political climate surrounding the licensing of medical marijuana dispensaries in Massachusetts, with a focus on real estate.  He has also instructed fellow attorneys and paralegals at the National Business Institute on legal research.  

Prior to law school, Valerio worked in the IT industry in the Bay Area.  He worked as a Unix Administrator for NBC's internet portal, NBCi and as a network engineer for Internet Service Providers.  Valerio is also a licensed Real Estate Broker in Massachusetts.
