Biography
As an experienced attorney, I have been practicing for over 25 years and have a proven record of results in maximizing compensation for the victims of personal injury and wrongful death. I have achieved verdicts in excess of one million dollars for clients, and am responsible for a substantial recovery in one of the most prominent snowmobile accident cases in Michigan’s history.
I was born and raised in a working class family in East Detroit as one of five siblings. My father was a skilled tradesman/local union officer and my mother worked the polling booths on election days. A product of my upbringing, I am a blue collar guy who worked my way through law school at Wayne State University as an intern at the UAW International Headquarters in Detroit, MI and the AFL-CIO in Lansing, MI.
After receiving my law degree from the Detroit College of Law, now Michigan State University, I worked as an assistant Attorney General under former Michigan Attorney General Frank Kelly, trying cases of serious white-collar crime and tax fraud throughout the state of Michigan.
Upon leaving the Michigan Attorney General’s office, I specialized in personal injury litigation, initially as an associate at a prominent insurance defense firm and thereafter as an associate at a prominent plaintiff’s personal injury firm. In 1995 I founded my own firm specializing in personal injury litigation including medical malpractice, auto negligence, nursing home negligence, trucking accidents, motorcycle accidents, slip and fall accidents, and all serious injuries. I understand how to effectively challenge insurance carrier claims because I have seen them from both sides. I also have an undergraduate degree from the School of Pharmacy and Allied Health, Wayne State University, which provides me with a unique perspective when addressing your personal injury case.
I have been rated by my peers in the legal community and given an AV rating, the highest score achievable by Martindale Hubbell.
I am a member of and serve on the State Advisory Board for the Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America (AITLA), a member of the Michigan Association for Justice, a member of the Italian American Lawyers Association, the Catholic Lawyers Association, and the Macomb County Bar Association. I am also a Plaintiff’s Case Evaluator in both Macomb and Wayne counties, a position requiring million-dollar settlements to qualify. In addition, I am an active member of the State Bar of Michigan and the American Bar Association.
In my spare time I am a frequent volunteer for the Downtown Boxing Gym, a charity for inner-city youth of Detroit and I serve on its Advisory Board.
