Biography
Whitney was born and raised in Oregon and is happy to return to her home state after working as an immigration attorney in Seattle for a year. Whitney’s immigration practice primarily focuses on removal defense and family based immigration cases. She has experience representing clients in immigration court and USCIS. Prior to working in Seattle, Whitney spent four months working with Instituto de Defensa Legal (IDL) in Lima, Peru where she researched systematic issues of corruption in the Peruvian government and worked with their indigenous rights team to develop a case against an international oil company for polluting indigenous territories. While in law school, Whitney was an extern for the Rapporteurship on the Rights of Women at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in Washington, D.C. and interned with the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in San Jose, Costa Rica. She also interned with the legal clinic at the University of Central America in Managua, Nicaragua, and with the International Human Rights Clinic at Seattle University School of Law.
Whitney received her B.A. in History/Political Science from LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas and her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law. She learned Spanish both through formal education and travel in Latin America.
