Biography
I help businesses win their legal disputes in and out of court where the amount in controversy is between $100,000-$20 million. I have been hired by other lawyers when the opposing counsel or judge are very difficult and they need a lawyer who can stand up to opposing counsel or even judges who are acrimonious. WILLIAM D. CHAPMAN has successfully defended and recovered multimillion dollar jury verdicts, arbitration awards and settlements for clients in state and federal courts throughout California. Mr. Chapman has appeared before the California Courts of Appeal, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, Ninth Circuit and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has represented a wide range of businesses of all sizes and entity types, in industries including real estate, business finance, nutraceuticals, computer software, building insulation products, self-insurance groups, automobile dealerships, distributorships, raw materials suppliers, etc.
Mr. Chapman's clients have included Fortune 500 companies as well as startup businesses. He has represented individuals who have suffered injuries from accidents involving automobiles, boats, gym equipment, insurance bad faith, etc. Clients have come to him from the Southern California area and as far away as Brazil, Italy and Russia.

Having grown up in Southern California, Mr. Chapman has been married for over 38 years, has 4 children and 4 grandchildren. He is an avid surfer, trail runner and loves to be in the out-of-doors. He has run 2 marathons, climbed (with cables) to the top of Half Dome 4 times, completed two 50-mile backpacking trips in the High Sierras, and camped and backpacked all over the Western United States.
