Hi there, I am a 19 year old student who was recently arrested for the possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. In my particular case should I go and seek a lawyer and is the conditional discharge a good enough for me option?

I procured approximately one and a half gram of Marijuana along with a mason jar and cardboard tube used for dryer sheets, that’s why charge was filed for possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia. I never had any arrests before, this is the first time I’m violating the law. I know that there is such a thing as conditional discharge but I am yet to be convicted so I am not sure if this is good for me. I also do not know if one has to hire a I also do not know if one has to hire a criminal defense lawyer to take the legal route, and if so, how much it would cost as a college student.
