I recently assisted a couple to seek a new home for their dog. When I went to pick the dog, out of the car window and she leapt. Again I only had her in my possession for approx. a minute and failed to capture her. Now, on the third day, there is a person who has said that he was bitten by a stray dog and wants to bring me to court, what must I do?

Two weeks ago, I helped a couple re-home their dog. When I got there to pick the dog, it decided to jump through the window of the car. I only had the dog in my care for approximately one minute and that was enough time for the dog to escape. That same day or two days later another woman complained of being bitten by a stray dog. There was a similar event to which I’m now responding in person in a legal case. Under the circumstances I still am not very clear on my course of action and should I hire a dog bite lawyer to represent my case?
