The School of Law is an innovative institution that provides a practical and professional approach to legal education. The School of Law's roots goes back to Western New England University. The Springfield Division of Northeastern College (University) was the first to establish the institutionthey now know. It was renamed Western New England College in 1951, and it moved to its current campus in 1959. It was originally offering a part-time, evening Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB). In 1973, the JD program was fully-fledged. The Blake Law Center was established as the new home for the JD program in 1979. In 2011, Western New England was made a university with five academic divisions, including the School of Law and four colleges. The only ABA-accredited law school in Massachusetts is Western New England University School of Law. It is also a member of the Association of American Law Schools. The School of Law offers both part-time and full-time programs and attracts students from over 30 states and Canada. The School of Law accepts both recent graduates and professionals with long careers. Students may be interested in traditional legal careers, while others will use their legal education for a new career.
