1903 William Dustin Corn and a group of around 20 men are interested in evening law classes. They meet at the Young Men's Christian Association on October 16. They decide to start a law school in the YMCA's national program to allow all Americans to get a legal education, regardless of their race, gender, or social status. The YMCA established 14 law schools across the country. They wanted to ensure that all Americans could have access to quality legal education. Corn is the first faculty member to be joined by Henry S. Ballard who studied law in Corn's office. South Third Street is where the first evening classes are held in the "Y" Building. It is located across from the Capitol. The Columbus Dispatch is now located on this site.
