University of North Carolina at Charlotte

UNC Charlotte, North Carolina's urban research college, is an inclusive and diverse institution that has local-to-global impacts. It transforms communities, lives, and businesses through affordability, access and affordability, exceptional undergraduate and graduate programs, scholarship, creativity, innovation, and service. The 1940s saw a need for skilled workers in cities to meet the demands of the marketplace sparked by World War II technologies. UNC Charlotte, formerly Charlotte College, is one of the first universities to be established in major metropolitan areas. The institution started out offering evening classes at Charlotte Central High School. However, it has expanded in size and mission to become the region’s premier research university. It addresses critical 21st-century business, technology, and education issues. Two locations in Charlotte are used for learning, collaboration, and discovery: one at University City's vibrant campus on 1,000 acres and another uptown location that is specifically designed to serve the needs of urban centers and their people.
